ANDREW IGNATIUS / COMMISSIONS

YOUR IDEA.
MY COLOURS.

Something personal. Something original. Something a little louder.

I create original commissioned paintings in my own expressive style: bold colour, strong black lines and plenty of character.

Whether it's a much-loved pet, a favourite person or a place that means something to you, I'd love to hear your idea.

A PAINTING THAT MEANS SOMETHING

NOT JUST A
LIKENESS.

A good commissioned painting should capture more than what something looks like. It should capture something of its character, its energy and what it means to the person who asked for it.

I don't aim to reproduce a photograph exactly. I use it as a starting point, bringing the subject into my own world of expressive colour, bold outlines and distinctive shapes.

The result is an original painting made especially for you.

WHAT CAN I PAINT?

THREE WAYS TO
MAKE IT PERSONAL.

Mutt, colourful dog portrait
01 / PET PORTRAITS

FULL OF CHARACTER.

Dogs, cats and other much-loved animals. The scruffy ones, the dignified ones, the ridiculous ones and the ones who think they own the house.

I want to capture what makes your pet unmistakably yours.

02 / PEOPLE & PORTRAITS

MORE THAN A FACE.

A person you love, someone you admire, or a portrait to mark an important occasion.

I use colour, line and expression to create portraits with personality rather than conventional photographic realism.

03 / PLACES & PERSONAL IDEAS

YOUR STORY IN COLOUR.

A favourite street, a meaningful place, a treasured memory or something a little more unusual.

If there's a subject that matters to you and you think it could work in my style, I'd be interested to hear about it.

A FEW USEFUL THINGS

GOOD TO KNOW.

How much does a commission cost?

Prices vary according to size, subject and complexity. Once you've told me what you're looking for, I'll provide an individual quote before any work begins.

Do I need a good photograph?

A clear photograph is the best starting point, particularly for portraits. Several photographs can be even more useful, as they help me understand the subject's character.

Will it look exactly like the photograph?

Not exactly — and that's rather the point! My paintings are interpretations, not photographic reproductions. Expect expressive colours, strong outlines and a little artistic licence.

How long will it take?

It depends on the size and complexity of the painting and my current workload. I'll discuss the likely timescale with you before accepting the commission.

Can I commission something unusual?

Absolutely. Some of the most interesting paintings begin with unusual ideas. If you've got something in mind, tell me about it and we'll see whether it's a good fit.
